🧵 How to Use 80% Fullness Snap Carriers for Ripple Fold Drapery (For Beginners)
Whether you're new to drapery or just want a simple explanation, this guide will walk you through using Snap Carrier 1786 – 2 3/8" Spaced (80% Fullness) for a professional-looking Ripple Fold drape.
✅ What You’ll Need:
-
Snap Carriers (aka Gliders) – Item 1786
➤ These clip into your track and hold the drape. -
Snap Tape – Sewn onto the back of your drapery panel.
➤ It has snaps spaced to match the carriers. -
Ripple Fold-Compatible Track
➤ Like CS, DS, KS, CHANNEL, or VIDGA.
📏 Step 1: Measure Your Drapery Panel
-
First, decide how wide you want the finished curtain to be when it’s closed across the window.
-
This is your finished width.
-
Since you're using 80% fullness, your fabric should be the same width as the finished size.
🧠 80% fullness means the curtain will have a soft wave, but not deep folds. It's 80% of the "gathered" look.
📐 Step 2: Calculate How Many Gliders You Need
-
You’ll need 1 snap carrier per snap on the tape.
-
Snap tape typically has 10 snaps per yard.
🧮 Formula:
If your drapery panel is 6 yards wide (flat),
→ You’ll need about 60 snap carriers (6 yards × 10 = 60).
✅ TIP: Order a few extras (3–5) just in case. You can’t add them later after the curtain is sewn!
🧵 Step 3: Sew the Snap Tape to the Panel
-
Line up the snap tape along the top back edge of your curtain.
-
Make sure it’s centered and sewn straight.
-
Use a sewing machine and strong thread.
🧵 If you're not confident sewing, ask a professional or bring it to Drapery King.
🔧 Step 4: Clip the Carriers Into the Track
-
Snap the 1786 gliders into the track spacing every 2 3/8".
-
Make sure they slide smoothly.
✨ Step 5: Snap Your Curtain to the Gliders
-
Start at one end and snap each part of the tape to the carrier in the track.
-
When done, gently pull the drape open and closed to check the movement.
🎉 That’s It!
You now have a clean, modern Ripple Fold look with 80% fullness — perfect for a sleek designer finish.
