How to Use 100% Glides – Beginner Guide
What does "100% glides" mean?
It refers to using one glide per snap, spaced closely together (usually every 2 1/8"), to achieve 100% fullness—a rich, elegant wave in the drapery without being too bulky.
🔧 What You Need
-
Snap carriers (glides) – like Style 1787B
-
Snap tape – sewn to the top back side of the drapery
-
Compatible track –
CS Channel rod, H Rail, 28mm, and 35mm and Travers Track systems.
-
Measuring tape
📏 How to Measure & Calculate
-
Multiply your window width by 2 to 2.25 to determine fabric width needed.
(E.g., for a 100" wide window, you'll want about 200"–225" of fabric) -
Snap tape has about 10 snaps per yard.
So for 10 yards of tape, you need 100 snap glides. -
Each section (or "strand") should have an even number of glides to allow even pleating and proper end returns.
🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Sew snap tape along the back top edge of your drapery panel. Make sure it’s straight and aligned.
-
Snap in the glides (carriers) – one per snap. Push firmly until they click.
-
Slide the glides into your curtain track. Ensure the wheels glide smoothly.
-
Double-check that each section has an even number of glides for symmetry.
-
Test the movement. The drapery should draw smoothly with beautiful, even folds.
✅ Tips for Success
-
Always order a few extra glides—you can't add them later if you run short.
-
Glides are final sale, so plan your layout carefully.
-
Don’t forget end stops or master carriers (depending on your track type).
