How to Use 60% Glides – Beginner Guide
What does "60% glides" mean?
It means using fewer glides per width of fabric, resulting in 60% fullness—a cleaner, more tailored look with gentler folds compared to the fuller 100% glide setup.
🔧 What You Need
-
Snap carriers (glides) – like Style 1787B
-
Snap tape – sewn to the top back side of the drapery
-
Compatible track – like the Deep KS Track (#1760) or Channel Track (28mm or 35mm)
-
Measuring tape
📏 How to Measure & Calculate
-
Multiply your window width by 1.6 to determine fabric width needed.
(E.g., for a 100" wide window, use approx. 160" of fabric) -
Use 6 glides per yard of snap tape instead of the full 10 for 100% fullness.
This gives you 60% glide spacing. -
Make sure each panel or strand still has an even number of glides to ensure symmetry.
🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Sew the snap tape along the top back edge of your drapery.
-
Skip every few snaps to install only 6 glides per yard.
(E.g., insert a glide every 2nd or 3rd snap to reduce fullness to ~60%) -
Snap the glides into the tape where needed—make sure they’re secure.
-
Slide the glides into your track and test the movement.
-
Check evenness. Keep the number of glides even across the span.
✅ Tips for Success
-
Mark the snap tape before snapping in glides so you stay consistent in spacing.
-
Less fullness = fewer glides = cost savings and a more minimal look.
-
Still order a few extra glides just in case.
